Pratima sits between India's textile makers and the people who will use what they make.
We are not a mill, and we do not weave. We choose which workshops to work with, which fibres and looms suit a particular cloth, and how to develop that cloth until it belongs to a specific brand, retailer or collection.
What we do is judgement rather than manufacturing: which workshop, which material, which process, and the follow-through to make sure what arrives matches what was promised.
Two countries, one working relationship.
Where the textile relationships live: the workshops, the makers, the fibre knowledge and the production experience built up over years of practice. Held together on the ground by an Indian partner who works with the workshops directly.
Pratima's connection to European and international buyers: market understanding, language, and a day-to-day presence that make a distant workshop feel like a dependable supplier. Led by a Spanish partner based there, who meets buyers in person.
Neither side is the whole company. Spain is Pratima's most established European presence today; the same relationships extend naturally into France, Italy and other markets from there.
Relationships, not transactions.
Every piece in the current range passes through people we know directly: weavers, spinners, embroiderers and workshop owners we have sat with, watched work, and asked difficult questions.
We don't publish names or numbers we can't stand behind, but the relationships are real, and they are the reason we can tell you honestly what a piece is and where it came from.
- Call anything pashmina that is not
- Take an order we cannot repeat next season
- Describe a fibre we have not had tested
- Add a workshop because it is cheaper
- Sell your exclusive colour to the shop across the street

A textile carries more than fabric.
Place, material, technique and the hands that worked it all travel with a piece of cloth. What we do is help that cloth move into a new context (a shop, a collection, a wardrobe) without losing what made it worth choosing in the first place.
We think of it simply: from the first thread to the next wearer. That doesn't mean we speak about cloth in mystical terms. It means we take the material seriously enough to describe it exactly, and expect it to be worn with the same care it was made.
The name carries an idea of its own.
Pratima suggests reflection, form, likeness: an image that stands for something larger than itself. A textile works the same way: a physical form that carries a place, a maker and a tradition forward into a new life.
There's a family dimension to the name too, which we've chosen to keep private rather than turn into marketing. What matters here is what the idea does for the business: it's why continuity and inheritance sit at the centre of how we think about textiles, not just where they were made.
To become one of the most trusted routes into Indian textiles.
Not the largest exporter. The name a retailer or designer trusts enough to buy from without visiting the workshop first.
That is built through material knowledge, transparent sourcing, consistent quality and relationships that last beyond a single order, not through scale for its own sake.
