Pashmina, on its own terms
A human hair runs to about seventy microns. The Changthangi goat's winter undercoat, combed by hand each spring, runs to twelve or fifteen. That's the reason this cloth handles as it does, and why there's never very much of it.
Hand-spun, handwoven on one of the workshop's own handlooms, and carrying a Geographical Indication tag on every piece, the only proof in this trade worth trusting. Hand-spun yarn sits denser than machine yarn, which is why a Heritage stole outweighs a wool-and-silk piece of the same size.
Not a finer version of the collections above. A different category of cloth, priced and supplied as one.
We use the word pashmina without qualification only where all four are true: 100% Changthangi fibre, hand-spun, handwoven, and a Geographical Indication tag on the piece itself.
